Description of the theft
The bike was left in a gated area that is not generally accessible by the public. The gate to the sidewalk was left unlocked and the bike was taken from the area.
This happened some time between 9:15am and 2:20pm on October 3, 2023. The location was near 245 First St SW, Washington, DC 20024 - please note that the area shown on the Bike Index map is incorrect, as this address is near the Capitol.
The u-lock and helmet were in the basket, but the lock was not secured to the bike. Both were taken with the bike.
