Description of the theft
15 INITIAL INCIDENT DESCRIPTION / NARRATIVE: On 04-09-2017 I was on routine patrol working in full Seattle Police Department uniform in a marked, two-officer patrol vehicle assigned as unit 2D2 with Officer Beecroft 7722. At 1357 hours I logged to a call of a burglary that occurred at 583 Battery St; Insignia Condos. The call stated: NORTH TOWER/INV NON FORCED BURG INTO SECURE PARKING GARAGE AND SUBSEQUENT BICYCLE THEFT... OCCURRED AT 1138 HRS...THERE IS A SECURITY VIDEO AVAIL FOR OFFICERS TO VIEW...SUSPECT LEFT UNK DIRECTION ON FOOT WITH BICYCLES...NO WEAPONS SEEN.. WHEN OFFICERS ARRIVE THEY CAN SPEAK WITH EMPLOYEE (removed).I arrived on scene and spoke with concierge (removed). She stated at approximately 1136 hours this morning she received a call at the front desk from a resident advising there was a suspicious subject inside the parking garage. The subject was on level UG of the parking garage which is one level above ground level. At 1138 hours, Jaffe stated she received another call from resident (removed) and her husband (removed) advising they just observed a suspicious individual exit the garage with two bicycles. (removed) stated after receiving these phone calls, she and other staff entered the garage on level UG where the suspect was observed. They located one cut bike lock on the ground near the bicycle storage area. (removed) was able to review surveillance with Officers which showed the suspect exiting the garage with two bicycles. (removed) was unable to locate on surveillance the suspect entering the garage so it is unknown if he entered with one bicycle or if he stole both bicycles from the garage. The suspect exits through the 6th Ave garage entrance.(removed) advised she has sent out a building-wide email advising individuals to check their bicycles in order to determine the victim in this incident. (removed) was provided with an SPD business card and case number before breaking contact and advised to have the victim call with further information regarding the stolen bicycle. (removed) did not have the ability to burn the surveillance footage but advised it is available on their software if needed. The suspect was described by witnesses (removed) and (removed) as a white male, 35-45, medium to heavy build, brown baseball hat, grey hoodie, black pants, black backpack, and black shoes with white soles. The garage entered is a secured garage requiring a garage door opener or electric key-fob in order to gain access. It is currently unknown how the suspect made entry into the building.
