Description of the theft
One evening, I was visiting my friend in this neighborhood. It was late at night and it was raining rather heavily at the time I arrived. Maybe I was only staying for a half hour or so, so I stashed the bike behind his house against the house, which requires access to the driveway to get to. (Fences in each backyard.)
There might have been a U-Lock mounted on the bike at the time it was stolen.
We filed a police report in 1996 (or 1997) whenever this incident happened. I don't have the number on hand. I'm not sure that they had access to this serial number at the time. I searched this site and it was not recorded.
Proof of ownership. I have the vintage owners' manual with the serial # recorded upon it.
