Description of the theft
At 3am on 9/20/22 — a man was seen in front of our building at 250 W Parliament Pl, Mt Prospect, IL 60056 being dropped off by a grey Honda Odyssey minivan - partial plates identified by our security camera- (possibly) DJ (?) 71018 and proceeded to go inside our lobby. He looked under our mailboxes, then sifted through packages. He then proceeded to take out some kind of a tool out of a black pouch and ram the door multiple times. Unsuccessfully he left towards the townhouses in the neighborhood where the car may have been waiting for him.
10 minutes later he returned and was able to get access into the building sticking something between the wood door and frame to open the latch and took elevators into the basement. There he proceeded to open every car door and burglarize and steal items from unlocked cars collecting the items in a plastic bag, later hiding in his backpack. Stolen items include: a mens specialized brand mens black bike, 2gps, Ray bans, dash cameras, cash, car key, tumi luggage carrying case, makeup, many many tools, and other items.
He also stole a black mens specialized bike valued at $1,000 Serial number is WSBC620187Z3K it is a black specialized cross trail compact disc bike model 924165003
He left by stolen bike turning right and road to the other condo in our circle neighborhood [around circle are 2 condos, townhomes, and community clubhouse- residential neighborhood with one way in and one way out] Gaining access to 1400 Yarmouth Place, Mount Prospect, IL the same way through the front door with the bike which he took in elevator and rode down to their garage and proceeded to again check every car door and steal a multitude of items.
He came into Parliament wearing black and white sweater and mask and then took it off at the other building thus exposing his face.
Gray minivan was seen on clubhouse cameras speeding out of the neighborhood at 3:48am, robber left parliament at 350am.
Upon posting on the Mt Prospect Neighbors group- I was informed what looks like the same man might have burglarized different condos in mount prospect 6 months ago.
He was careful to avoid the cameras by walking the perimeter and truly looked like he knew the layout of the building exactly.
We are worried he will be affecting other condos in the area and are warning our neighbors to take a look at their security measures and remind everyone to lock cars, move all valuables out of site and secure any loose valuable items such as bikes.
Be safe, and if you know anything we would highly appreciate your help.
