Description of the theft
At 9am on March 31st, 2023, I discovered my moss green tokyobike classic sport model was stolen from the garage of my building. I had last seen my bike in its normal spot (hidden at the back of my parking space) the morning of March 30th, 2023. The bike is not visible from outside of the building, and finding it would require someone to walk 30 feet into the garage, turn a corner, and look behind cars. The garage of my building is protected by a secure gate. Only the 8 tenants of the building and the building owners/managers have access to this garage with special keys. During the morning of March 30th, 2023, the building manager sent a maintenance team to repair water damage in the entryway of the building. The building manager did not inform the tenants that the vendor would be leaving the garage gate open for the entire day. But for unknown reasons the vendor decided to open the garage gate and leave it open all day. I believe a thief entered the open garage and stole my bike from its hiding spot. The bike was locked to itself (there is a chain lock that binds the back tire to the frame and make the bike un-rideable). I notified my building manager and he is enquiring with the maintenance vendors to understand why they left the garage door open (he did not give them permission to do this).
