Description of the theft
My wife and I moved into Boulder and while unpacking we decided to store our bikes on the bike rack of our car in the parking garage. I took the bike down around 9pm on 9/3 and installed it on the bike rack. Since I did not have the keys to the integrated lock on the bike rack I simply wrapped the lock and placed the end in the lock, but didn't actually lock it. That way it didn't seem like an unlocked bike while I went to grab the keys. I went back to the apartment to get the keys and on my way back I picked up our bedframe which needed to be assembled. As quiet hours were approaching I asked my wife if she could run back down to the garage to lock her bike on there with mine so I could build the bed frame before it got too late to be making noise. I forgot to mention that mine only looked like it was locked. So she locked her bike up, but didn't realize that mine was not actually locked. The next day I went to park my motorcycle in our second spot at about 9am on 9/4 and that's when I noticed that my bike was missing, snapped a photo and tried to look for cameras near by but didn't see any. Our car would have recorded the incident but the battery was too low for that feature to function. I plan to contact our property manager to report the incident. Hopefully they will have some camera footage to see what happened.
