Description of the theft
UPDATE 10/26/22: Bike may now be black and green. A man tried to sell a bike that looked like mine to Trek La Mesa. The frame was wrapped in black electrical tape and the fender were painted green. When Trek wanted to check the serial, the man bolted with the bike. UPDATE 10/21/22: Received a sketchy call from a man claiming to be a trucker from the Midwest who purchased this bike from the thief for $150. He asked me when I lost it and said that was the day he bought it. When I asked if he could return the bike to the nearest Trek store so I could reimburse him plus a finder's fee, he said he was nervous about going to a bike store with a stolen bike. Because of this, I asked if he could provide proof he actually had the bike and at that point he got irate and hung up on me. He said he was currently in Missouri and he had a Tennessee area code. Reverse phone search revealed an address in Maryville, TN and street view showed a freighter truck on the property. I believe this man is linked with the thief because I received the call after placing fliers about my bike on Cypress Street, where the thief was headed in the surveillance video after stealing my bike. UPDATE 10/21/22: Photos of the thief have been uploaded. He's a tall and lean man with a beard and mustache. At the time of the theft, he was wearing a black cap, grey shirt and greyish pants. Please do not approach individual but call LMPD (619) 667-1400 with case number 22023620. Please also text me at 619-415-5135 to let me know so I can update my own records. UPDATE 10/17/22: I've been told that there is clear footage of the thief and the theft. The thief was a man on a black e-bike. Will update once I have more.

Bike stolen Friday 10/14/22 between 3:20PM and 3:50PM in front of Sheldon’s Service Station while it was locked up to a bike rack near the La Mesa Farmers Market.

At the time it was stolen, it had a grey canvas oversized trunk bag on the rear (Rivendell Sackville bag) with my bike helmet (same color as bike) & bunch of junk in it that isn’t valuable to anyone but me. The bike bag also had a dark grey Tshirt pinned to the back that has Persian/Arabic script in red, white, and green on it.
