Description of the theft
It was snowing pretty heavily. I rode my bicycle to see Dr. Lee at the Seattle Naturopathic Center at 905 NE 45th St., Ste B for a session, arriving at 1:45pm. I set my bicycle leaning on the wall in the alley between the Center and The Kennedy Building (an apartment building). I set a motion alarm on my bike (a SmartHalo unit) but did not lock it with a physical lock, because it was really
cold and I was late for my appointment.
When I left the Center to retrieve my bicycle at about 3pm, it was missing. No one in the nearby buildings seemed to hear the alarm go off (the alarm is loud,
like a car alarm). Evidently The Kennedy Building has security cameras in the area. I spoke with Abigail Vedder, a staff member at Kennedy . Abigail said that she would try to access the camera footage, but that she needed to coordinate with her IT team to do so.
Hopefully I will hear back from Abigail in the next day and follow up to this report with a supplement, if we find footage.
The attached photo is of my bicycle a couple months ago, back when I had a rear wheel stolen in the International District (that time, my front tire was physically
locked to a bicycle rack). Before it was stolen, my bicycle looks the same, except the rear wheel is replaced with a used one.
