Description of the theft
Bike was lent to a stranger, Jeremy Smith, 21, would be student body president of Virginia Tech. He had lost his iPhone on the curb near a pile of free stuff where we met late at night. I asked him to help me carry a table a block down the street to my home and I would get a flashlight to help him find his phone. I lent him my Riide to meet up at the spot, but he never showed up. I found his phone and went back home expecting he would return to get his phone and bag, but he never did. We had chatted about his engineering program so I didn't think he was scamming me and was worried he had been jumped or got lost. He supposedly crashed and broke the bike so he abandoned it, and never brought it back. His mother's number showed up on the find my iPhone message and I made arrangements to return the phone and bag to his parents the next day. He has not reimbursed me since and the bike has not shown up. The police were unable to accept a report because the thief is known. Maybe I should have kept the phone... but I went to UVA and we don't lie, cheat, or steal. F*** VTech.
